Quebec students to vote on resuming class

Graham Hughes/Canadian Press

So when the protesting students want to effect change in a democratic society they take to the streets rather than the polls. But when they want to alter something internally they fall back on that old reliable democratic process called voting!

Now that there is an actual election campaign underway, leading to a real election that will have an effect on all Quebecers I think some student protesters feel they have a tiger by the tail.

“For students, this isn’t only about whether you want to go on strike or not anymore,” Desjardins said. “The question becomes what the impact will there be if they strike during the election and, in some ridings, I think the impact could be huge.”

Martine Desjardins – FEUQ President

Maybe any students who want to return to school should just do so..go ahead, be rebels!!
