King Snarls Proclaimed

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II passed away less than a week ago at the age of 96. As is the tradition, the moment her heart stopped beating, her eldest son, Charles, Prince of Wales, became king. Formal coronation will follow at a later date, once the extensive period of mourning has been completed. Regardless, Charles is now King Charles III.

If I were a headline writer for one of the notorious British tabloids I’d be tempted to refer to him as King Snarls

He’s had many years to prepare for this, with a wonderful mentor, his mother, who provided him with all he should need to succeed. Yet, he has already shown a side of himself that would have been best left hidden.

Members of royalty have many expectations and responsibilities thrust upon them, it’s a tough gig. Elizabeth’s public demeanor always portrayed a woman capable of handling it all with aplomb. That’s not to infer that she didn’t have her moments of crankiness and frustration, yet she spent seventy years on the throne without showing that side. Alas, poor Charles has already displayed his short temper.

At this point, he motions impatiently to someone to move it further, while showing a face that would have soured milk

As King Charles III was signing the document that officially proclaimed him King, he threw a bit of a hissy fit. There was a pen holder in his way that he clearly found annoying, yet he was not going to move it when there are servants there for that sort of thing. Once the devious object was moved, Charles continued to sign, only to find the pen holder once again in his way. At this point, he motions impatiently to someone to move it further, while showing a face that would have soured milk.

Might his mother have done the same? Perhaps, but I have to believe she would not have done so in such a public manner

His reaction was understandable, I guess, given the stress of the situation. Might his mother have done the same? Perhaps, but I have to believe she would not have done so in such a public manner. This man has spent his entire life in the public eye. Has he not learned anything?

If I were a headline writer for one of the notorious British tabloids I’d be tempted to refer to him as King Snarls!
