Facebook’s Star Chamber Keeping Me In Limbo

A few days ago I posted about my Facebook woes. Because my name was the name of my blog, in their infinite wisdom they have barred me from accessing my account unless and until I provide them with my ‘real’ name and submit appropriate proof thereof.

I hope they draw the line a thumbscrews and waterboarding.

To paraphrase an old adage, I came to the conclusion that you can’t fight Facebook. So I scanned my driver’s license, redacted all information other than my name, photo and date of birth, and submitted it to the Facebook Star Chamber.

That was three days ago. Since then when I try to log in I am directed to a page informing me they are considering my document and will be in contact. But I’m still in limbo.

What if the reject my submission? Will they call me up on the carpet? Demand fingerprints? I hope they draw the line a thumbscrews and waterboarding.

UPDATE: It appears the German courts have decided that Facebook cannot demand real names.
