Language and dialect quiz


The New York Times has an interesting interactive quiz all about dialects. By answering 25 short questions they place you on a map of the US in terms of how you pronounce words and which words you use. For instance, do you pronounce ‘aunt‘ like ‘ant‘ or “caught‘? Here’s another example.

DialectSandwichI actually call it a submarine sandwich. So here’s how my dialect and accent fits: seems I’m not a Southerner, unless it’s Florida (I have to think all those Canadian Snowbirds living there have influenced the language).
