VE Day in pictures; 68th anniversary of Nazi surrender

Today, May 8, 2013 is the 68th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day (VE Day). It commemorates the Allies’ acceptance of the unconditional surrender by Nazi Germany, and the end of WW II in Europe. This is certainly one of those occasions when pictures tell the story better than words!

Unfortunately it wasn’t all beer and skittles as celebrations in Halifax, Nova Scotia turned ugly and riots broke out.
