Remembering those who fought for our freedom; thinking of those like Yoani Sánchez who continue to fight

How appropriate that on this Remembrance Day, when we remember those who gave their lives for our freedom, comes news that Cuban blogger and activist Yoani Sánchez is out of jail and blogging once again.  Sanchez has been arrested and detained on two occasions during the last month.

When Sanchez was freed, she tweeted to her 355,423 followers, “Once again I can walk along the streets of Havana after being detained for several hours. I am fine. Thanks for your support!”

Sometimes we take for granted our freedom of expression. But one doesn’t have to look far to see others for whom such a freedom is a luxury they don’t have, but one for which they continue to fight.
