Today is the fiftieth anniversary of the release of Dr. No in cinemas marking the start of big screen adaptations, 22 in all, of the spy novels of Ian Fleming’s featuring his suave character James Bond.
During that time there have been some great adventure films that have attracted a cult-like following. But, these movies have also spawned numerous wonderful soundtracks by some big names, certainly not the least of whom is Shirley Bassey who contributed three theme songs including the classic Goldfinger.
Paul McCartney and Wings provided the theme for Live and Let Die.
Duran Duran played the theme for A View to a Kill
But perhaps the most recognizable bit of Bond Music is the James Bond Theme which Brian Setzer does a wonderful job on.
